Eliminate Acne Naturally 9 Essential Homemade Recipes

Acne occurs when the sebaceous glands-the oil-secreting glands that lubricate the skin-secrete too much sebum, or oil. Normally, sebum flows from the sebaceous glands to the surface of the skin. But if dead skin cells accumulate inside the pores, they can dog the pores and prevent the normal flow of sebum. As a result, otherwise harmless bacteria that live beneath the surface of the skin and in the pores can multiply. This overgrowth of bacteria, together with the blocked sebum, causes pimples to form.

The skin mirrors internal health, and blemishes or acne can indicate internal problems. Acne sometimes signals a general toxic condition within the body. When the kidneys, lungs, and intestines become overloaded with more wastes than they can eliminate, the skin may be called upon to filter out wastes.

Other factors can make the skin more prone to develop pimples. These include allergies; a diet high in fats, preservatives, sugar, and pesticide and herbicide residues; dehydration; emotional problems; environmental pollution; too much exposure to the sun; heredity; hormones; oral contraceptives; poor hygiene; weakened immunity; and stress.

Proper skin care is crucial for clearing acne. Keeping your skin clean and your pores unclogged and reducing oil secretions can help clear up your complexion. Cleanse your skin twice a day, use a facial scrub several times a week, and spot- treat blemishes with essential oils to help control breakouts. In addition, apply a facial mask one or more times a week. This will help minimize oiliness and clear plugged pores. You can customize the skin care products you already use by adding any of the essential oils listed above. Or use the blends below, which are designed specifically for acne, as follows:

* Twice a day, cleanse your skin with Green Clay Cleanser. French green clay is very cleansing and healing for blemished skin. Follow this with an application of Skin-Clearing Toner, then Oily Skin Treatment.

* Dab Spot Treatment or Blemish Blend on individual blemishes several times a day, as needed, to clear them quickly.

*At least twice a week, massage Grainy Scrub into your skin to discourage blackheads and blemishes.

* Once a week, apply Clearing Mask to remove impurities and to regulate oiliness. Adding enzymes to the Clearing Mask formula will help the mask to remove dead skin cells that can block pores and contribute to blemishes.

* Once a week, steam your face with Acne-Clearing Facial Steam to loosen sebum and bacteria that clog pores. Follow with Green Clay Cleanser, Grainy Scrub, or Clearing Mask.

* Men can use Blemish-Banishing After-Shave to
prevent blemishes and infected ingrown hairs.

The aromatherapy blends below are essential oil formulas you can prepare at home.

Green Clay Cleanser
1 teaspoon French green clay powder 1 teaspoon honey or water
1 drop geranium oil 1 drop lavender oil
1 drop tea tree oil
Mix all the ingredients into a paste in your palm. Massage the paste into your skin until it feels clean. Rinse. Repeat if necessary.

Skin-Clearing Toner
8 ounces distilled water
2 drops lavender oil
1 drop palmarosa oil
1 drop rosewood oil
Place the water in a clean bottle, add the essential oils, and shake it to blend. Saturate a cotton ball with toner and apply it to your skin after cleansing. Blend the mixture again before each use.

Oily Skin Treatment
1 ounce jojoba oil
3 drops lavender oil
2 drops lemon oil

Place the jojoba oil in a clean container and add the essential oils. Turn the container upside down a few times or roll it between your hands for a few minutes to blend. Apply a dab of Spot Treatment directly to each blemish several times daily.
